A Notch Above Photography Club
Minutes
September 9th, 2017

The meeting began at 1:05 PM
Attendees: Bob T., Mary W., Karina, Scott, and Eileen W.
The minutes of our Aug 5th meeting were approved. Scott agreed to take notes and prepare minutes to today’s meeting.
Scott showed recent modifications to the ANAPC web site, to include Search Engine Optimization (SEO), the new Home Page and About Us Page (accomplished for SEO), new images uploaded to John’s Member Slider Page, and the Useful Docs Page which now allows the user to view a document online prior to downloading.
It was reemphasized that Tim and Scott will assist with uploading images to a member home page. Members were urged to keep images at less than 300 Kb. Mary reminded us that user pages with placeholder images don’t reflect favorably to potential new members.
Members were polled regarding use of Meetup beyond Sep 30th. The consensus was to renew the subscription for one additional month.
Scott presented a discussion of Levels and interpretation of the Histogram followed by a YouTube video. Also included was a live demo regarding use of the Levels to enhance the tonal range and contrast of an image.
Scott presented information prepared by Tim regarding various facets of post processing. We encountered buffering/latency problems making continued viewing of the video impossible. Bob T. suggested that members could complete viewing on their home personal computer. Tied into Tim’s post processing discussion was a demo by Scott regarding the LAB Color Mode.
Members related that they’re eager to conduct a field trip. It was suggested that our next scheduled meeting of 10/12 be a field trip to Sabbaday Falls. Scott agreed to put this plan into action. If the weather is bad, we will meet as usual in Bethlehem. Our time at Sabbaday Falls would then be followed by a member dinner at a local restaurant.
The subject of topics for future meetings was met with obvious enthusiasm. Bob suggested Layers and Layer Masks. Karina would like a presentation regarding Lightroom. Mary is interested in topics related to intermediate skill level use of Photoshop. Scott suggested photo painting, sharpening, and use of textures. These suggestions will be further refined before the next meeting in the event we are not able to meet at Sabbaday Falls.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:25.
