Notch Above Photography Club
Minutes
December 14, 2019
The meeting convened at 1:00 and the following members were present:
Chris, Joe, Bob, Tim, Jen, Brooke, and Scott. We were pleased to welcome
new member Ron P.
Following member introductions Bob presented the Treasurer’s Report which shows
a balance of $376.33.
Scott provided a brief demo of a newly designed layout for the NAPC home page.
Tim and Mary continue to have problems with web page generated email. Bob mentioned
a problem with reading links with member email due to lack of contrast. Scott will
research these problems and attempt to resolve all before our next meeting on 1/11/20. From this
date forward Scott will include the monthly topic as the images are displayed online.
Bob provided information about the histogram and how this can help get the pic right in
the camera. Discussion included information about RAW and JPEG histograms and the mistaken
concept of a perfect histogram. Bob showed 3 videos which helped reinforce concepts from his slide presentation.
Bob won our monthly photo contest (subject: ice or snow) with his entry “The Last Apple.”
Tim handed out information regarding Winter photography. Especially useful were comments concerning how
to obtain correct exposure.
It was agreed that “churches” would be the topic for the December – January photo contest.
Tim presented PowerPoint slides with his Introduction to Post Processing and accompanied this with a video
by Dylan Kotecki which demonstrated how to edit 2 images with On1 Photo Raw 2020. This proved especially useful to those new
members who’ve not yet made a post processing software selection.
Members viewed all winner’s from the NAPC monthly photo contests in order to vote for an annual winner.
We were excited to see Bob T. emerge with a majority of votes for his image “The Last Apple” winner of our
November – December photo contest. Bob was awarded a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate. Way to go, Bob!
Tim indicated that the Bethlehem Public Library will allow us to display prints of our monthly photo contest
winners. We would like to thank the Library for allowing us to meet in the conference room for the past 3 years
and the wonderful assistance we receive from the Library staff.
Tim adjourned the meeting at 3:30
